Example: RxMedic ADS enables pharmacies to fill scripts after hours

According to the National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS), by 2010 the number of community pharmacists is expected to have increased by 7.8% since 2004. The number of prescriptions dispensed within this timeframe, however, will have seen a 27% increase – moving from 3.27 billion in 2003 to more than 4.1 billion in 2010. Despite this growing demand, certain states only allow pharmacists to fill 15-20 prescriptions per hour, leaving numerous prescriptions unfilled after the pharmacy closes for the day.

The RxMedic Automatic Dispensing System (ADS) offers quality-assured, hands-free order preparation and allows scripts to be filled even after hours without hands-on supervision. The ADS completely addresses all steps required to prepare the order by receiving a script fill request from the pharmacy’s Point of Sale (POS) software. The ADS subsequently selects a vial, applies the script’s unique label, dispenses the appropriate oral solids into the vial, caps the vial and collates the script according to the customer’s unique identification.

With significantly higher reliability and throughput than other automated solutions on the market, the RxMedic ADS works fast and with less maintainance so pharmacies can start each day ahead of the game.

Example: RxMedic ADS allows pharmacists to regain 50-80% of time spent preparing orders

Manually preparing customer orders takes 22% of pharmacy staff time during a typical workday. Coupled with an increasing amount of prescriptions, this leaves pharmacists with less time to focus on other critical aspects of their roles. The RxMedic Automated Dispensing System (ADS) relieves pharmacists of the burden of prescription preparation. The RxMedic ADS receives a script fill request, selects a vial, applies the script's unique label, dispenses the appropriate oral solids into the vial, caps the vial and collates the script according to the customer's unique identification. Capable of dispensing 200 scripts per hour, the ADS reallocates 50-80% of the time pharmacists generally spend preparing orders to other areas of concentration - such as being personally available to patients.

Example: RxMedic ADS relieves in-house staff from fatigue-inducing activities

In pharmacies, the processing of prescription orders consumes nearly half of the work day - and means that repetitive, mundane tasks such as retrieving a drug and returning it to storage, counting pills, and bagging prescriptions threaten to fatigue in-house staff members. Not only does the RxMedic Automated Dispensing System (ADS) offer indisputable performance and cost benefits, it performs routine tasks that would otherwise burden staff members and pharmacists.

The ADS automatically dispenses medication from its 256 different bins and accurately fills and labels prescriptions to significantly expedite the order preparation process. For each prescription, the RxMedic ADS receives a script fill request, selects a vial, applies the script's unique label, dispenses the appropriate oral solids into the vial, caps the vial and collates the script according to the customer's unique identification.  Remote monitoring and fewer maintenance requirements mean staff members can do their jobs without the frustration of frequent calls to technical support.

The unique features of RxMedic ADS allow pharmacists to expend energy on quality patient interaction and produce greater professional satisfaction. The RxMedic ADS can, in turn, improve morale, increase employee productivity and greatly improve profit margins.

Example: RxMedic ADS pays for itself at 900 scripts per week

In general, pharmacies are cautious about spending money on new technologies. Adoption of dispensing technology is understandably impacted by the need for return on investment. The RxMedic ADS addresses the growing market need for a reliable, cost-effective automated prescription dispensing system that surpasses all existing systems in speed, capacity and accuracy.

The RxMedic ADS improves prescription accuracy, significantly expedites the order preparation process, minimizes staff roles in dispensing, increases sales volumes and profit margins, and provides an overall higher quality of service to pharmacy customers. The RxMedic ADS saves customers more than 30% in support and maintenance costs when compared with other industry offerings. With lower initial and maintenance costs, RxMedic ADS establishes a rate of return beyond investment at the 900 script per week volume – this is the lowest in the industry.

RxMedic is amazing... things have never run so smoothly.

By 2010 there will be

4.2 billion

prescriptions dispensed per year – a 27% rise in volume since 2004.

As prescription rates increase ADS is becoming mission-critical and allows for after-hour dispensing.

Pharmacies fill approximately 3.5 billion scripts each year, and this number is increasing by 5% annually.

The current shortage of pharmacists is expected to grow to 150,000 by 2020.
